New Chinese safety standards for cosmetics will come into force on 01.12.2016
We reported that the safety standards for cosmetics in China, first announced in June 2015, are finally replacing the safety standards of 2007 that had previously applied. The changes relate to ingredients, quality control and packaging. While the requirements for quality control and packaging must be taken into account for the next renewal application, the innovations for ingredients must be implemented by 01.12.2016.
The changes include:
- Prohibited ingredients: 1388 (added 133, revised 137)
- Restricted ingredients: 47 (added: 1, revised: 31, deleted: 27)
- Preservative: 51 (revised: 14, deleted: 5)
- Sunscreen: 27 (revised: 6, deleted: 1)
- Dyestuffs: 157 (added: 1, revised: 69)
- Hair dye: 75 (revised: 63, deleted: 21)
